Responsible gambling
Statistics do not remove the risk
Football statistics help you make informed decisions, but they do not guarantee a profit. Any bet can be lost, and most people who bet lose money in the long run. Only bet money you can afford to lose.
Tips to gamble responsibly
- Set a budget and a time limit before you start, and keep to them.
- Never chase your losses.
- Never bet money you need for bills, rent or food.
- Do not bet after drinking alcohol or when you are upset.
- Take regular breaks and keep a record of what you stake, win and lose.
- Use the limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools that licensed bookmakers offer.
Learn how to size your bets in our bankroll management guide.
Warning signs
- You bet more money or time than you planned.
- You feel anxious or irritable when you are not betting.
- You borrow money or hide your betting from the people around you.
- Betting affects your work, your studies or your relationships.
- You think about betting all the time.
Where to get help
If you think gambling is a problem for you or for someone close to you, talk to someone and ask for help. These organisations offer free and confidential support:
- BeGambleAware: Information and support for people in the United Kingdom affected by gambling.
- GamCare: Free support, advice and a helpline for people in the United Kingdom.
- National Council on Problem Gambling: Information and a helpline for people in the United States.
Age and safe use
Gambling is only for adults: the legal age is set by the law of each country, usually 18. If you share a device with young people, use parental controls to block gambling sites. Stats For Betting is not a bookmaker and does not take bets.
